Mother tongue is a gift from heaven. Mother tongue is so important that people of a country express their thoughts, ideas, feelings and emotions clearly through mother tongue.
But ironically, the then rulers of Pakistan tried to force Urdu as our mother tongue (মাতৃ ভাষা) instead of Bangla. But the people of our country raised their voice against this illegal decision.
Some of the heroic sons came on February 21, 1952 and sacrificed their glorious lives for the cause of our mother tongue. Since then, this day is called Shaheed Dibash.
Every year we commemorate this day with solemnity and pay deep tribute to our heroes. Now it is our great pleasure that this day received international recognition in 1999.
Since then it has been and will forever be celebrated as “World Mother Language Day”. So we are concerned with great fame and prestige.
